The Rehoboth Art League (RAL) will hold an outing to experience the art, architecture, and history of Hillwood Estate, Museum & Garden in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. A tour bus gets you to and from Rehoboth Beach and the museum, and your Hillwood entry is included in the trip cost. On display will be Hillwood’s “Artistic Table” exhibition, where well-known interior designers and Hillwood curators take inspiration from Marjorie Merriweather Post and history’s finest table settings to create a feast for the eyes.
Ongoing highlights at Hillwood include Marjorie Post’s home, now a museum. Her strong ties to the eighteenth-century French décor has been maintained, while modern conveniences have been added over the years. The elegant French drawing room and “high-tech” kitchen are some of the many reasons that Hillwood is referred to as one of Washington’s most memorable homes.
Finally, the RAL bus trip will also include an opportunity to visit Hillwood’s renowned gardens, designed by prominent landscape architects Umberto Innocenti and Richard Webel in the 1950s. Thirteen acres of formal gardens were designed to be in bloom in spring and fall, when Marjorie Post was in residence in Hillwood. Also during the trip, attendees will have an opportunity to hear from Hillwood’s gardeners and get a glimpse of what’s growing for spring and summer on the property.

Space is limited and advance reservations are required. Check-in time is by 7:15 am on February 27, and return time to Rehoboth is estimated at 6pm. The deluxe bus has restroom accommodations available onboard.
