Single Vehicle Fatal Crash on MD 213 in Cecilton – Update

State Police confirm identities of the driver and his passenger in yesterday’s fatal crash in Cecilton.

The driver of the 2006 Nissan 350Z is identified as Lawrence Midash, 46, of Cecilton, Maryland. He was transported to Union Hospital for an unrelated issue, but was not injured in the crash.

The passenger in the front seat is identified as Larry W. Thompson Sr., 66, also of Cecilton. He was pronounced deceased on scene by Cecil County Emergency Services personnel.

Shortly before 1:15 p.m. yesterday afternoon, troopers from the North East Barrack responded to the area of 110 Main Street (Rt 282) prior to MD 213 for a single vehicle crash into a utility pole, right across from the Cecilton Volunteer Fire Company.

Emergency medical personnel responded and immediately attempted to render aid. Troopers from the North East Barrack were assisted by a crash reconstructionist and the State Highway Administration.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation and consultation with the Cecil County State’s Attorney.

On January 28, 2018 at approximately 1:14 PM, troopers from the North East barrack responded to the area near 110 East Main St (MD 213) in Cecilton for a single vehicle collision. Upon their arrival, troopers located a Nissan 350Z which had struck a pole. The preliminary investigation revealed the Nissan was traveling on Rt. 282 at Rt. 213 when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle veered from the roadway and struck a utility pole. The front seat passenger was pronounced deceased on scene by Cecil County Emergency Services medics. Troopers detected signs of possible impairment from the operator of the Nissan, who was not injured in the crash. The identities of the driver and passenger are being withheld at this time, pending notification of next of kin. A crash reconstructionist responded to the scene, as well as assistance from the State Highway Administration for a lane closure.
