Art at the Football Game

When attending a High School Football game one may not expect to see much art. Unless it’s the art of a touchdown pass, a great tackle or any number of good football plays. It’s mostly entertainment of watching a sporting event.

But at most games there is a half-time show put on by the school’s marching band. The art of music, and the artistry of the musicians, the flags and the conductor (Drum Major). When attending a home game at Kent County High School, which I was able to do on Friday night, you are able to see a finely tuned band that always play at their best.

Under the leadership of KCHS teacher Dr. Keith Wharton and this year’s Drum Major Jason Douthit you will always see a good show. One that only gets better throughout the season when pieces are added.

Want to have a change to see them play? Kent County’s next Football Home Game is next Friday Night against Colonel Richardson and Homecoming is Saturday October 1st. You won’t be disappointed with the band at 1/2 time and you’ll also have a chance to see a good football game too.

Since there was a football game played around the KCHS Band’s show I thought I would also add a photo from the game.
