The 2nd annual celebration of art and the Chester River (RiverFest) kicked off on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Foot of High Street with an Illumination Ceremony. The featured ‘guest’ was Charlie the Peacock.

The weekend event is a collaboration of Chestertown RiverArts, Washington College Center for Environment & Society, SANDBOX, Chestertown Arts & Entertainment District and a host of other participating organizations.

On the foot bridge RiverArts Artists Rob Glebe, Cindy Fulton and Breon Gilleran and the Heglands have placed sculptures. Breon Gilleran and the Heglands received the Charles Keer Award for their River Orrery.

Schedule of events for Saturday September 24, 2016:
11 AM – 5 PM at WILMER PARK

10 am: Paddle History Tour
11 – 12: Kent County High School Jazz Band
11:15 Paddle races
Noon: Chester River Rowing Club Demo
11 -3 Poker Run (no set time)
12 – 3 Michael Butler Band
1:30 Paddle History Tour
2:40 Captains meeting
2:50 Cardboard boat parade
3:00 Cardboard boat race
3:30 Award ceremony for all races
4-5 Steel band
5 pm Wilmer Park festival ends

7-10 Peacock Glow Party with DJ Smallwood & Ducky Dyanmo,
Local Ice Cream, Beer & Wine
