Christmastime is Here

When you look around it is obvious that the Holiday Season has begun. Whether it’s the stores with bargains for gifts, or our favorite Christmas programs of our youth that bring back memories, or the tree lighting and Santa arrivals to the delight of children of all ages, Christmastime is here.

It is a time that many come together to help one another. It could be just a cheerful smile to someone you don’t know, but meet on the street. The pay it forward gesture of paying for a cup of coffee for the person behind you. The toy you give to an organization who will be handing them out to those families who are struggling to make ends meet. Giving a monetary gift to your local Arts Organization so they can keep going for another year.

As I am writing this, I realized that it’s only 3 weeks until Christmas and 4 weeks until the New Year. And I am thinking that the so called Holiday Season is too short. All through the year we should be doing these things.

As December slips by and the year comes to a close, I want to give Thanks to everyone who have taken a few minutes to come to the ChesaDel Crier. I hope that I am delivering a service that you find valuable and needed.

I’ll leave you with this though. One of my favorite Christmas songs was recorded around 50 years ago. The country was protesting a war and looking for peace. “Someday at Christmas” composed by Ron Miller and Bryan Wells. 50 years has gone by and the song resonates as much today as it did then. And it makes me wonder when:

(Someday all our dreams will come to be)
(Someday in a world where men are free)
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmastime
