The series continues with the intriguing Exhibition on Screen film, GIRL WITH THE PEARL EARRING on Monday, March 27, 2:00 PM, at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive, Dartmouth Plaza (behind the Lewes Wawa). Doors open at 1:30 pm.
GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING by Johannes Vermeer is one of the most enduring paintings in the history of art. It’s most recent world tour garnered huge lines for the briefest glimpse of its majestic beauty. Yet the painting itself is cloaked in mystery. This gorgeous film seeks to answer the many questions associated with this extraordinary piece. Who was this girl? Why and how was she painted? And why is this painting so revered? Enjoy unparalleled access to the much-loved Mauritshuis gallery as this gripping detective story seeks to answer many of the unanswered questions surrounding this enigmatic painting and its mysterious creator. Andrew Pulver of the Guardian says of the film, “a lovingly photographed documentary, in high-definition, about the blockbuster exhibition, gives a more nuanced view of Vermeer and his exquisite little world of Delft.” [2015, USA, Runtime: 90 minutes, Not Rated]
