The Rehoboth Art League has awarded artist Marilyn Feldman the commission to paint the seven homes on the 2017 Cottage Tour of Art to be held in July. Marilyn Feldman studied art at the Corcoran Gallery School of Art and at George Washington University, in Washington, DC. At GWU, she earned a degree in Journalism and Graphic Art and was named to Phi Beta Kappa.Marilyn is a long-time member of Potomac Valley Watercolorists and a more recent member of Rehoboth Art League. Her paintings have been shown at juried exhibitions, including the Maryland Federation of Art, Art on Paper show in Annapolis; Baltimore Watercolor Society, Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibition, Baltimore; Strathmore Art Center, Rockville, MD and the Art Barn in Washington, DC.
She has won numerous awards, including first prize in a C&O Canal Days Artist in Action competition sponsored by the National Park Service. Her work is in private collections and at the National Institutes of Health.
Marilyn splits her time between Potomac, MD and Lewes, DE, and has studio space at the Studios on Walnut in Milton. Recently retired from a 30-year career in communication, media relations and publication design, Marilyn looks forward to spending more time fulfilling her passion for painting.
The 68th Annual Cottage Tour of Art will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 11th and 12th. The tour is from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. each day. Feldman will create a pastel of each of the six private homes, as well as the Art League’s historic Peter Marsh Homestead. Images of Feldman’s works will be used in the tour program and her original pastels will be awarded to the home owners during a June thank you reception. Feldman’s rendition of the Homestead will be accessioned into the art league’s esteemed Permanent Collection of artwork.
Cottage Tour tickets are $35 per person and are available for purchase on the RAL website rehobothartleague.org or by calling 302.227.8408. The tour is appropriate for ages 13 and above. By mid-June tickets will also be available at several local locations which will be announced on the website. The Cottage Tour of Art is underwritten by J. Conn Scott.
