Every weekend this June one can travel to one of five counties to see this year’s Shore Shakespeare’s production of the Bard’s comedy “A Midsummer Night Dream. Tour performances are presented outside. Written in 1596 and performed ever since, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a wonderfully wicked web where worlds collide: lovers, weddings, feuding faeries and impish antics. The title begs a question: whose dream? Shore Shakespeare’s production provides an answer audiences might not expect.

The show opens with three outdoor performances at Adkins Arboretum in Caroline County on June 2, 3 and 4, 2017. Friday and Saturday shows are at 6pm, Sunday at 3pm.

Directed by Christian Rogers and produced by Shelagh Grasso, the production highlights the talents of Patrick Fee, Avra Sullivan, Brian McGunigle, and Colleen Minahan, with Christine Kinlock, Heather Oland, Robbie Spray, Troy Strootman, Lindsey Hammer, and Greg Minahan. They are joined by Josh Hanson, John Terebey, Jane Terebey, and Sarah Gorman.

Choreography and original music are by Greg Minahan, with Magic direction by Ian Flinn. Costumes are designed by Barbi Bedell.

I have worked with or seen many in the cast in other productions and I am looking forward to seeing them in “Mid-summer’s Night Dream”

Tickets for performances at Adkins Arboretum are $15 and may be reserved by calling the Arboretum at 410-634-2847, or by visiting their website at www.adkinsarboretum.org.

The remainder of the tour is being performed in public venues, for the benefit of the surrounding communities. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic, a bottle of wine (where permissible), and a lawn chair or blanket. Weather is, of course, always a consideration.
