Memorial Day 2016, the Mainstay, a cultural and artistic center housed in a 100 year old building in Rock Hall, Maryland began an experiment. They invited Joe Holt, a Chestertown based pianist to invite guests to play with him on Mondays through the Summer for a casual show. One with casual seating and tables set up so you can bring your own dinner. The Mainstay has a cash bar.
More than a year later the shows are still happening every Monday evening. I have attended a couple of times, including the 1st Anniversary Concert with the former Director of the Mainstay, Tom McHugh. During that night Tom McHugh performed with about a dozen different instruments. It was announced that Mainstay Mondays will continue. Joe has already put together a schedule that will go through 2017.
Her acting talent is superb, but I have not had the chance to hear her sing, although the announcement from the Mainstay says she is “talented performer has a lot of singing experience as a character in stage musicals, but for Mainstay Monday she appears as herself, accompanied by Joe”. And I am looking forward to hear the selections they have put together. I have a feeling that there will be a few show tunes.Every Monday at the Mainstay in Rock Hall at 7pm, $10.
Upcoming Mainstay Mondays:
July 24 – Joe Holt welcomes Roo Brown
July 31 – Joe Holt welcomes Paula Johns
August 7 – Joe Holt welcomes Ken Cicerale
