What fun we’ve had this summer! Hard to believe just two weeks remain in the Summer Fun program at Dorchester Center for the Arts. Children ages three and up have experienced underwater adventure, space exploration, the wonders of nature, art history, recycling, and all things wild through cartooning, collage, printmaking, painting, clay, sculpture, puppetry and more. Thank you to the MidShore Community Foundation and the Art Camp Angels at DCA for funding scholarships this year so even more children had the opportunity to exercise their imaginations. A few spaces are still available – please call 410-228-7782 or stop by 321 High Street in Cambridge.

DCA is pleased to announce a new instructional music opportunity – classical guitar for young people and adults. Students will learn on a nylon string classical guitar, sometimes called a Spanish guitar. Classical guitar is an intricate and beautiful art form; a tradition dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries in Western Europe. Students will study classical music, which includes learning to read notes on the staff, scales, chords, theory, and technique. Students should be ages six and older, so that they can read the music. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays, with 45 minute sessions to be arranged with instructor.
