Delaware Art Museum Host Free Annual Korean Festival

WILMINGTON, DE (August 24, 2017)

The Delaware Art Museum is pleased to host the third Korean Festival on Saturday, September 30, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This free celebration includes both traditional and modern Korean cultural activities and celebrates the Korean Thanksgiving, Chuseok. The family-friendly event also features music and dance performances such as modern K-Pop dance, TaeKwonDo demonstrations, Hangul (Korean language) lessons, trivia, hands-on art activities, and much more. Artwork created by students from the Delaware Korean School will be on display. Korean food provided by Kalbi Asian Bistro will be available for purchase.

The Museum is excited to connect people to art through diverse cultural events and programs. These initiatives allow the Museum to serve its broad and unique community while providing greater access to its collections and art education. There is no Museum admission fee during the Korean Festival and all galleries will be open throughout the day from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Schedule of Events

11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Korean-inspired art activities, Chuseok Cha-Rae table setup (Thanksgiving Dinner), art display by students from the Delaware Korean School, Korean snack sampling booth, personalized Hangul script demonstrations, photobooth with props and traditional Korean clothing, and TaeKwonDo and traditional musical instruments interactive booths

11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Arirang ensemble,music and dance performances by students from the Delaware Korean School, K-Pop Dance by University of Delaware Dragonfly Dance group, Korean Aria, and TaeKwonDo demonstrations by Tiger Kicks

1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Hangul (Korean language) lesson, trivia challenge, Jang-Gu (traditional musical instrument) contest, Korean food preparation demonstration, and Korean drum performance by students from the New Jersey Korean School
