The Rehoboth Beach Film Society continues its exciting new theatrical experience series. Through a partnership with online theater streaming service, BroadwayHD, select theater content from the brand’s video on-demand library is now available at the Cinema Art Theater. The next performance in the series is CYRANO DE BERGERAC. Other featured performances include Sam Shepard’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play BURIED CHILD starring Ed Harris, the Tony Award-winning musical SHE LOVES ME and more. See the schedule below for upcoming shows.

· August 28 & 29, 2017: CYRANO DE BERGERAC

· September 16, 18 & 19, 2017: BURIED CHILD

· October 28, 30 & 31, 2017: SHE LOVES ME

Soldier and poet Cyrano de Bergerac (Kevin Kline) is in love with Roxane (Jennifer Garner), but he’s too ashamed to admit it because of his big nose. When a cadet, Christian (Daniel Sunjata), falls for Roxane, he asks for Cyrano’s help in sharing his feelings. Cyrano writes love letters signed with Christian’s name, and Roxane doesn’t realize that it is Cyrano’s words she falls for. She marries Christian, and Cyrano continues to keep the other man’s secret, even after tragedy strikes.

Based on Edmond Rostand’s 1897 romantic classic, this is the story of a 17th-century French cavalier poet with a soul as big as his oversized nose. It pushes all the emotional buttons just as effectively today as it did when it was written over 100 years ago. Based on a true story, this is a stylish production with sumptuous costumes and sets. Directed by David Leveaux.

“The New Yorker” cheered “Kevin Kline is sensational” and “The New York Times” said “The show goes down so easily, you’re misty-eyed before you know it.” (Runtime 2 hrs, 21 min).

Screenings will be on Monday, August 28th at 12:30 p.m. and Tuesday, August 29th at 7:00 p.m. at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza (behind the Lewes Wawa). Admission is $18 for RBFS members, $20 general admission and $15 for ages 16 and under. Online reservations (www.rehobothfilm.com) are encouraged and may be made with MasterCard or VISA.

The mission of the RBFS is promoting cinematic arts and providing education and cultural enrichment for our community.
