Dorchester Center for the Arts
Cambridge, MD – November 22, 2017

Dorchester Center for the Arts offers a variety of opportunities to play a part in the arts; from visitor or volunteer, to supporter or performer. DCA is dedicated to enriching Maryland’s Eastern Shore community through high quality, engaging programming in the visual, literary, musical and performing arts. Your interest and your ideas are welcome! Come join us as we create community through the arts.

Volunteers are an essential part of DCA’s programs. Opportunities to volunteer exist throughout the organization, including assisting in the galleries, at events, with mailings and membership, summer arts camps, and our artisans’ gift shop. There are opportunities to work with activities both onsite and off. The camaraderie with like-minded others can be rewarding and meaningful, and you can be certain that your efforts will make a difference in the community. Give us a call or stop by 321 High Street for more information.

Interested in sharing your time and talent through instruction? DCA is always looking for imaginative and collaborative artists with new ideas for classes and workshops. Contact Brittany Andrew, Education and Program Coordinator at 410-228-7782.

In this season of thanks and giving, DCA is grateful to the membership and the community – whose advocacy, participation, and financial support makes program growth possible, and extends the reach and impact of the arts in Dorchester County and beyond. As you consider your gift giving this holiday season, consider a gift to DCA. Because your gifts support the creativity of individuals of all ages in our community – it truly is a gift that keeps on giving.

Friday December 1, 7:00 p.m., Maris Wicker presents her solo show “By the River” on the Gallery Stage. Guest artists Victoria Tarbutton on classical guitar and Ashley Watkins on flute will join her on several selections. Admission is $10 for DCA members, $12 future members. Call DCA to reserve: 410-228-7782.

Saturday December 2, 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Sheryl Southwick presents a printmaking workshop “Intro to Linoleum Block Printing”. This technique is perfect for creating custom greeting cards. Students will lean the basics by tracing images, cutting out negative spaces, inking, and printing, and will also make multi block, multi color prints. Students may bring in photos and sketches for reference. Call DCA for registration information.

Wednesday Morning Artists and Friends “Gallery of Gifts” continues in the galleries through December 23. Second Saturday Reception on December 9 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. includes a community choir sing and festive holiday refreshments. DCA’s onsite Studioworks Artisans’ Shop is also filled with handcrafted items, wearables, books and more for unique gift-giving.
