Spring Hunting season opens this month in both Maryland and Delaware.
In Maryland Young hunters can take part in the Junior Turkey Hunt on April 14, 2018. Beginning on April 18th and running through May 23rd, 2018 all hunters can try to bag a bird during regular spring turkey season.
For the first part of the regular hunting season, April 18-May 9, hunting is allowed from one half-hour before sunrise until noon. For the rest of the season, May 10-23, hunting hours are one half-hour before sunrise until sunset.
The daily bag limit in Maryland for the spring season is one bearded turkey, with a season bag limit of two bearded turkeys.
Delaware’s spring turkey hunting season opens Saturday, April 14, and runs through Saturday, May 12, 2018. Hunting hours are a half-hour before sunrise until 1 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
There is a special statewide one-day hunt for youth ages 10-15 and for disabled hunters using a wheelchair for mobility on Saturday, April 7. Young hunters must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older who has completed a Delaware-approved turkey hunter safety class, and who has a Delaware hunting license or is license-exempt. The accompanying adult may not hunt.
In Delaware all harvested birds must be checked at an authorized turkey check station by 2:30 p.m. on the day of the hunt. Bag limit is one bearded turkey per hunter each year.
