Main Street Historic Chestertown and the Chestertown Arts & Entertainment District have awarded cash prizes to three individual artists and two classes of art students at Garnet Elementary who decorated cotton “tea bag” tote bags as part of the Tea Party Festival celebration. Judges were Carla Massoni, owner of Massoni Art, and John Schratwieser, executive director of the Kent County Arts Council.
The winners are:
Grand Prize ($100): Barbara Slocum
Finalists ($50 each): Jenn Schultz; Leann Schenke and Nancy Curley; second and third graders in Aimee Boumiea’s art classes at Henry Highland Garnet Elementary School.
Thanks to contributions from Massoni Art and the Kent County Arts Council, Main Street Chestertown was able to increase the prize money to provide $25 per tote bag for the five winning entries by the second and third graders.
The winners and other entrants will be on display at Town Hall, RiverArts KidSpot, and the Kent County Arts Council (101 Spring Ave., Chestertown) through June 15, 2018.
