‘ Guys & Doll ‘ will present a special benefit concert on Saturday, August 11th, at The Mainstay in Rock Hall. $18 online advance and $20 phone reservations/door.
Kent County’s own ‘Guys & Doll’ (Tom McHugh, Bill Matthews, Tom Anthony & Sue Matthews) has traveled to the West Coast of Ireland to perform in the Clifden Arts Festival, more than a dozen times since 1994. It’s been a few years since their last trip, and so they are thrilled to be invited back for this year’s festival in September. While the Clifden Festival takes care of the band once in Ireland, they must meet their own travel costs. To help defray their expenses, The Mainstay is hosting Guys and Doll in a benefit concert to help get them to Ireland!
They’ve welcomed some new band members: on guitar and vocals, Tom Mitchell (toured with Dan Hicks and The Hot Licks) and one of the Mainstay’s favorite pianists, Robert Redd (current pianist for the touring Duke Ellington Band). Trombonist, John Harris, will also be joining the band again for this tour.
Please join us at The Mainstay if you think you might enjoy their repertoire of Traditional Blues, American Songbook Jazz, and a bit of Folk & Country all rolled into a fun evening led by their fearless leader, Tom McHugh.
