Caroline Summerfest to feature nearly 30 hours of magic, music and performances

DENTON, MD – The challenge to any long-standing event is keeping it fresh and relevant. As Caroline Summerfest celebrates its 30th anniversary year, event planners will launch a fourth performance stage and its first indoor one through a special relationship with a downtown business, the Market Street Public House, 200 Market Street.

“One of our event goals has been to engage our downtown businesses in a more significant way, so that they can leverage the increased foot traffic in the downtown during the festival,” says Sue Simmons, Caroline Summerfest event coordinator. “In the beginning it wasn’t uncommon for businesses to close during the event, but throughout the years that has changed. Businesses are now taking the opportunity to showcase their businesses during Summerfest. This new stage venue is a progression of that vision,” she adds.

The Acoustic Showcase Stage will feature eight hours of entertainment over the course of the two-day festival, Friday, August 17 and 18, 2018 and will be located in the side room of the restaurant. Festivalgoers can enjoy performances from 7 to 9:45 p.m. on Friday and from 4 to 8:50 p.m. on Saturday. The stage is sponsored by National Property Inspections.

Performance highlights include:
• Penny Pistelero, an alt/country band from Easton that pushes music conventions with brass instruments, lap steel and fine vocals. The band will perform their acoustic set on Friday at the Pub from 7:30 to 7:50 p.m., and their full band performance earlier in the day from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the Comcast and Choice One Urgent Care Main Stage on the west lawn of the Courthouse Green.

• River & Rhodes, featuring Ashley Mitchell and husband, Donny Marvel, performing acoustic indie originals, from 8:30 to 8:50 p.m. on Friday at the Pub, and earlier from 7 to 8 p.m. on the Comcast and Choice One Urgent Care Main Stage.

• DC’s 2018 Magician of the Year Christophe Jelenski at the Pub from 9 to 9:20 p.m. and earlier from 8 to 8:30 p.m. on the Provident Bank Courthouse Stage.
