Chestertown- Interested in learning a new skill? Or perhaps taking yours to the next level? The RiverArts
Education Center and Clay Studio have a variety of classes and workshops on tap for late summer and fall – from Lithography and Woodcuts, to Porcelain, Ceramics Handbuilding, Knitting, Watercolor, Calligraphy, iPhoneography and Alcohol Inks, (what’s that?!).
Upcoming ceramics classes include Intermediate Pottery, (Intensive), Handbuilding, and Beginners Pottery Throw and Trim with instructor Marilee Schumann, Decorate and Glaze with Clay Studio manager and instructor Dianna Frymiare, and for your holiday table, a Leaf Platter Workshop with Wanda Brumwell and Decorate a Holiday Pie Plate with Laura Ventura.
White Line Woodcut is an intriguing technique to transfer a drawing to a woodcut, painting the block, and then transferring the image to printing paper. This 3 day workshop taught by Fred Dylla, runs September 5 – 7.
RiverArts is pleased to offer Introduction to Lithography with instructor Ben Dize Drawing is done on the surface of the stone with a specialized grease pencil. The stone is then treated to hold water, while the drawn areas will repel the water and accept the ink. Since the water covers the white areas of the stone, the ink only sticks to the greasy, drawn areas. This 6 week class begins Tuesday, September 11.
Other September classes include Alcohol Inks, a vivid, transparent and forgiving medium, Calligraphy, Intermediate Watercolor, and Knit a Cable Vest.
