Chestertown, Md. — The Dickens of a Christmas organizing committee is looking for creative, adventurous and/or civic minded volunteers to help the Décor Committee create authentic streetscapes and storefronts for the weekend festival, which takes place December 7-9, 2018 in the heart of Chestertown’s historic commercial district.
The Dickens weekend is organized by Main Street Chestertown and staffed by volunteers. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Décor Committee, chaired by artist and retailer Samantha Arrow, is working to create engaging displays that evoke the look and spirit of London in the mid 1800s, the setting for Charles Dickens’s beloved novella A Christmas Carol.
If you are interested in helping, contact Sam at walnutandwool@gmail.com. For more information on this and other opportunities to volunteer, call Kay MacIntosh, Main Street Chestertown manager, at 410-778-2991.
The public is encouraged to enhance the streetscape by dressing in Victorian garb for the event.
Information on creating the Dickens look is posted on the website: dickenschestertown.org under the “Vendors” tab.
