Antique Furniture Restoration Class at the Rehoboth Art League

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE –October 16, 2018- From a conservation standpoint, restoring old furniture is environmentally helpful. We recycle and renew, restoring the old to reside in its present place in time. Come learn about antique furniture and the proper processes to condition, repair and restore pieces of furniture at the Rehoboth Art League’s six-part “Antique Furniture Restoration” class, Wednesday mornings, October 31 through December 12, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. You will bring easily transported pieces of furniture to class where they will be evaluated based on condition and age by instructor Donna Iarusso. Then through hands-on training, you will restore your pieces using environmentally friendly products. The cost of the series of six classes is $225 for members and $260 for non-members.

The instructor, Donna Iarusso has taught Antique Furniture Restoration as part of the Interior Decoration Certification Program at Queensborough Community College (QCC) for nearly 10 years. She holds a BFA in Restoration with her specialty in wooden objects. She interned at the Objects of Conservation department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and then took part in the revitalization of the Gubbio Studiolo that was unveiled newly restored in the spring of 1997. A painter and muralist for 35 years she also, as part of the continuing education faculty at QCC, taught classes in drawing and faux finishes.
