Rehoboth Art League Call for Entries for Regional Juried Photography Exhibition

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE – The Rehoboth Art League is seeking submissions to the “RAL Regional Juried Photography Exhibition,” scheduled to take place January 4 – February 7, 2019, at the league. “We have hosted annual juried photography exhibitions since 2016,” says Jay Pastore, the Artistic Director of the league. Throughout that time, we changed the scope of each exhibition making it larger and more prestigious than the previous. This year, we took a big step forward in our effort to developing this into a major regional photographic exhibition (something lacking in Southern Delaware) by inviting all artists living in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, and Washington D.C. to participate.”

“We are very happy to announce that the juror and awards judge for this exhibition is Alida Fish, a Philadelphia-based photographer, arts educator, and art reviewer,” says Pastore. Alida FIsh received a BA degree from Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts, and an MFA in photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology, NY. She is Professor Emerita at The University of the Arts, in Philadelphia, where she served as Chair of the Media Arts Department, and later Interim Dean of the College of Art, Media, and Design. In addition to giving a Gallery Talk on Saturday, January 5, at 2pm, a collection of her work will on display in the Ventures Gallery throughout this exhibition.

Awards will be presented at the opening reception that include; “The Delaware Beach Life First Place Award”, offering a five hundred dollar cash prize and the opportunity for the artist to have a solo exhibition concurrent with next year’s exhibition; “The Packard-Reath Second Place Award,” offering a two-hundred fifty dollar cash prize, and “The Director’s Third Place Award,” that comes with a one-hundred fifty dollar cash prize.

The deadline for entering submissions is December 5, 2018, at 5pm.
