Chestertown — As the new year begins, so do new hours for the Bordley History Center. The Bordley History Center, home to the Historical Society of Kent County, is located at the corner of High and Cross Streets in Chestertown’s Historic District.
New hours are:
Beginning April 6, First Friday in April, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., continuing through Christmas.
“Our new hours reflect the hours our members and visitors have been using the Bordley,” explained Society president Stephen Frohock. “We want to make optimum use of our many, many volunteers who staff our museum and shop. Without them, we could not have regular hours to share our exhibits.”
“We will continue to have extended hours for special events such as Tea Party Festival, Legacy Day, Annual Historic House Tour, Downrigging Weekend, and Dickens of a Christmas Weekend,” said Frohock. These special hours will be posted periodically at the Bordley History Center and on the Society’s website at kentcountyhistory.org.
The Society’s research library, located on the second floor of the Bordley History Center, will continue to be open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., year round.
The Bordley History Center houses the Society’s museum and gift shop on its first floor and its ever-popular High Street window exhibits which change about every six weeks. The museum is also the site for the First Friday lectures on local and regional history, offered without charge to members and the public, and of periodic special events.
