REHOBOTH BEACH, DE – On Friday, April 5, 2019 from 5-7pm, the Rehoboth Art League will host an opening reception for three new exhibitions. This will include Contemporary Miniatures, an exhibit displaying a unique form of art that reduces overall scale—nothing larger than twenty-five square inches—but maintains an incredible amount of detail. Also opening that evening is Dissolution, current sculptural works by Bill Wolff that reflect an evolution of form and expression, influenced by human gesture and architectural and social spaces. Finally, the reception also celebrates Pours, new work by Kim Klabe, which features work made by pouring wine or dark beer on watercolor paper and transforming the dried organic shapes into figures and finished artwork.

Also, on Saturday, April 6 at 2pm, the Rehoboth Art League will host a Gallery Talk from Narissa Steel, President of the Miniature Painters, Sculptors, and Gravers Society of Washington, DC. Ms. Steel is the judge for the Contemporary Miniatures exhibition and will discuss the selection process for the awards as well as provide an overview of miniatures, an artform that traces its roots back to the book paintings and illuminated manuscripts of the seventh century. She was also the facilitator of the World Exhibition of Miniature Artists held at the Smithsonian Institute in 2005 and was the judge for the Art League’s first miniature show in 2013.

Finally, artist Bill Wolff will provide a Gallery Talk on Saturday, April 1 at 2pm at the Rehoboth Art League to discuss his creative process. Wolff has been making and exhibiting sculpture made primarily from discarded tree parts for more than twenty years in a wide variety of venues nationally and internationally. Wolff holds an MFA from Louisiana State University and an MA from the Tokyo University of the Arts. He has worked as an educator since 2009 and is currently Assistant Professor and head of the sculpture area at Salisbury University on the eastern shore of Maryland.

All of these events are free and open to the public. Gallery Talks is partially funded by a grant from the Delaware Humanities, a state program of the National Endowment for the Humanities. These events are also made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com. The opening reception is generously sponsored by Dogfish Head.
