Queen Anne’s County’s Fallen Heroes Memorial, located on Rt 18, is dedicated to emergency services workers who have given their lives protecting and serving Queen Anne’s County citizens.

The Fallen Heroes Memorial was first dedicated in June 2003 with the following having stone markers inscribed with their names and the dates of their deaths:

Warden Charles W. Rider, Maryland Department of Fish and Game, Nov. 9, 1963.

Tfc. Philip L. Russ, Maryland State Police, Oct. 28, 1972.

Tfc. Thomas A. Noyle, Maryland State Police, Oct. 28, 1972.

Sgt. Wallace J. Mowbray, Maryland State Police, Aug. 10, 1975.

Chief David W. Brinkley, United Communities Volunteer Fire Department, Sept. 21, 1998.

Deputy First Class Jason Charles Schwenz, Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office, Feb. 13, 2001.

Patrolman Michael Nickerson, Centreville Police Department, Feb. 13, 2001.

Chief William Douglas Thomas, Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department, July 9, 2003.

Chief Charles F. “Buck” Clough Jr., Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Company, April 15, 2009
