Rehoboth Art League Hosts Four Exhibitions and the Season Opening of the Homestead

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE – On Friday, May 10, 2019 from 5-7pm, The Rehoboth Art League will hold four openings for exhibitions on its historic Henlopen Acres campus. Voyages, an exhibition of large-scale works from Caroline Huff and Sharon Strine, focuses on new paths and commonalities. Ms. Huff works in the tradition of American Realism, working to ensure that the viewer simultaneously enjoys the composition of the painting, the relationships and tensions between the light, the colors, and the shapes. Ms. Strine creates figurative paintings that are meant to reach people in personal and meaningful ways as they connect with their own experiences and imaginations; and are touched with a meaningful or joyful sense of the moment. Together, their work conveys a sense of optimism and humanity.

On the Road, a juried exhibition with works from Coastal Camera Club members, explores the excitement of travel in a series of photographs that document experiences such as riding the subway in a big city or finding a quiet moment with the gondolas in Venice. This Coastal Camera Club exhibition also takes travel as its theme, seeking new perspectives from artists who journey away from home. These photographs transport viewers to a faraway locale, capture unique perspectives of other cultures, and highlight the amazing landscape of other continents.

In the Marcia and Henry DeWitt Gallery will be Preservation Matters, which showcases works from RAL’s Permanent Collection. Patrons will have the opportunity to ‘adopt’ a work of art in need of conservation and sponsor the cost of its treatment. Following its treatment, each sponsor will receive a giclée print of their selected work. Each donor will also be recognized in future exhibitions of these works.

For the season’s opening of the historic Peter Marsh ‘Homestead’ House, built in 1743 and located at the main entrance of the Rehoboth Art League campus, will be Secret Places. The RAL has invited member artists to share their own renditions of a secret place, whether it be a remote landscape or a favorite locale that evokes creative energy. The Juror for this exhibit is professional Delaware-based artist Joseph Terrone. He graduated from Pratt Institute with an MFA in painting and has earned New Jersey State Certification as an Instructor of Art. His abstract art background coupled with his response to plein air painting act as vehicles to express his love of nature through color and movement. Mr. Terrone’s plein air paintings have been collected throughout the United States. All four exhibitions run through June 9, 2019.

All of these events are free and open to the public. The Rehoboth Art League is located at 12 Dodds Lane, in Henlopen Acres. Hours are 10:00am – 4:00pm Monday through Saturday and Sunday 12:00-4:00pm.
