Chestertown, MD – For three days beginning on April 25, 2019, Fifty-Five Artist throughout the Mid-Atlantic came to the Chestertown RiverArts 10th Annual “Paint the Town”. On the evening of April 27th after the works were framed and hung at the RiverArts Studio they all came together for an Artist Reception. The paintings were available for sale.
Before opening the reception to the public the Artists themselves selected the “Best in Show” and “Best Body of Work”.
The Winner for “Best Body of Work” was Raymond Ewing. Honorable Mention went to Ann Crostic.
Ann Crostic also was selected for her work “Wysteria” for “Best In Show”. Maggii Sarfaty’s Fountain Night was Honorable Mention.

It was a overcast Sunday morning when the Artists went out for the “Quick Draw” portion of the week. Each artist started with a blank canvas and had around three hours to complete a painting.
At 11 o’clock the artists bring the morning’s work to Fountain Park for judging. This year had 33 “Quick Draw” artists The paintings are unsigned and displayed with numbers so that the work is judged anonymously for first, second and third place. This year’s Judge was Rita Curtin an award winning Plein Air Artist.
Along with the judging the public, including the artists, pick one for the People’s Choice.

Third Place – Corrin Pumphrey
Second Place – Jane Knighton
First Place – Barbara Stepura
People’s Choice – Barbara Laird

A strange happenstance with the winners was that Jane Knighton and Barbara Stepura went to the same location, each picking a different side the bridge.
