Family-friendly food and music fest returns on May 31, 2019
WILMINGTON, DE – The Delaware Art Museum’s annual outdoor food and music festival, the Backyard Bash, returns on Friday, May 31, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. in its Copeland Sculpture Garden. In partnership with People’s Festival organizers, the Backyard Bash kicks off the summer with local musicians, food trucks, family-friendly art activities, face painting, arts vendors, lawn games, and bar service. Tickets are $10 for adult Museum members and $15 for non-members. Entrance is free for youth members and $5 for youth non-members.
This year’s performers include the Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble, local up-and-coming musician Missy Belgré, sister duo Nalani and Sarina, and recent The Voice contender Nadjah Nicole. Local community organizer and motivational speaker, India Colon, will act as the event emcee. See below for more information about this year’s performers, or visit the Museum’s website for video samples.
“My favorite thing about the Backyard Bash is seeing community members from across the city dancing, relaxing, and connecting all while listening to the region’s top artists in the Museum’s beautiful sculpture garden,” says organizer Jonathan Whitney, the Museum’s Manger of Performance Programs and Community Engagement.
The Backyard Bash is part of the Museum’s vision to become a vital hub in Wilmington where artists, educators, and community groups come together on equal terms to engage in cultural and civic discourse around art. Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at delart.org to avoid lines at the door. Tickets, which include admission to the Museum’s first-floor galleries, will be available for cash or charge the day of the event. Please follow the Museum’s Facebook page for updates.
