13th Annual St Michaels Concours d’ Elegance Classic automobile show expands to include the first Chesapeake Bay Motoring Festival

St Michaels, Md. – Jaguar Land Rover of Annapolis presents the Thirteenth Annual St Michaels Concours d’ Elegance, Sunday, September 29, 2019 on the Linden Lawn and Gardens at the historic Inn at Perry Cabin, and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St Michaels, Maryland.

“Exciting features have been added for 2019,” says event chairman Luke Phipps. “First-off, we are featuring a new post-war automobile class on the Inn at Perry Cabin show field. Interest in post-war automobiles is growing, and we want to recognize this trend.” This class is open to rare and significant post-war European sports, touring and racing-class cars from 1946 through 1969. An early entry for this display is a stunning, 1947 Delahaye 135 M Cabriolet with coachwork by Guillore of Paris. This exceptional automobile underwent an extensive restoration on the West Coast and won its Class at Pebble Beach.

Another new feature will be the addition of a “drive-up” award ceremony on the waterside lawn of the Inn at Perry Cabin. “Our attendees really enjoy seeing these classic examples of rolling sculpture in motion, especially with the picturesque harbor as a backdrop,” said Phipps.

Also new this year will be the First Annual Chesapeake Bay Motoring Festival along the Foggs Cove waterfront of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum adjacent to and in conjunction with the St Michaels Concours d’Elegance.

Entrant applications are available online at SMCDE.org for rare, special interest, or unusually exotic automobiles for the Concours d’Elegance and the Chesapeake Motoring Festival. Concours inclusion is for acceptable classic automobiles in excellent condition in three categories: pre-war classics from 1900-1942, post-war sports cars from 1946-1969; and pre-war and post-war Bentleys up to 1969. The Chesapeake Motoring Festival is open to notable automobiles that don’t fit in the Concours d’Elegance categories.

Advance visitor tickets are $50.00 through the event website (SMCDE.org) and include entrance to The Chesapeake Bay Motoring Festival on the waterfront campus of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

Walk-up tickets are $60.00 at the main gate on Sunday.

The new Motoring Festival will feature more classic, antique, and exotic cars; antique wooden boats, sponsor and vendor tents; draft beer, a gourmet Bloody Mary bar, concession stand, and more.

The proceeds from the events benefit the local student chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America, which is dedicated to providing educational resources to young individuals who have an interest in the restoration of classic automobiles. AACA’s student chapter provides workshops, educational resources, and hands-on vocational training.
