REHOBOTH BEACH, DE – Now in its 46th  year, the Rehoboth Art League’s Outdoor Fine Art & Fine Craft Show, to be held the weekends of August  3-4 and August 10-1 20191, will be underwritten by Jack Lingo, REALTO, a proud supporter of RAL for five generations.

Since 1973 the Outdoor Art Show has been held on the Art League’s historic grounds in Henlopen Acres and started simply, with many artists showcasing their work on snow fences around the property. Many of the Art League’s most noted artists, including Jack Lewis and Howard Schroeder, were annual participants. The distinguished show now draws artists from across the country and some of this year’s artists come from as far away as Florida, Georgia, Vermont, Tennessee, and even California. As always, many local and regional artists are on campus with their artwork. While some artists continue the tradition of displaying their work on fences, many showcase their work in booths located around the grounds of the art league amidst its wooded, historic campus.

“We are pleased to be the Event Underwriter for the Rehoboth Art League’s Annual Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft Show,” says Bryce Lingo, Associate Broker and Vice President, Jack Lingo, REALTOR. “It’s a unique opportunity to see neighbors and visitors to the Coastal Delaware region join through art and culture. The Lingo family and the many people who work with us all have a strong passion for the arts and giving back to the community, aligning with our overall goal and mission of ‘Give Where You Live.’”

The 46th  Annual Outdoor Show will continue some long-time traditions while simultaneously offering new amenities. RAL continues its tradition of volunteer involvement at this event, utilizing the efforts of more than 100 volunteers to pull off the two-weekend event. And beyond the innovative artwork that the event brings to Rehoboth Beach, which this year includes photography, painting, ceramics, wood, metal, fiber art, and more, the Art League offers attendees live music, artwork demos, children’s activities, and indoor/outdoor seating, to enjoy delicious food by The Point and Chesapeake & Maine, and beverages courtesy of Dogfish Head Brewery. The Art League will also have on display its 81st Annual Members’ Fine Art Show, representing the work of dozens of member artists, and Ethereal Ireland—works by Beth Trepper. As always, RAL will have memorabilia for sale, including branded totes and water bottles, and the Homestead Docents will be selling RAL memorabilia and artwork donated by the Outdoor Show artists as a fundraiser for the historic Peter Marsh Homestead. RAL provides complimentary transportation to the event with Jolly Trolley shuttles, which make stops at the Route 1 Fresh Market and the Rehoboth Beach Plaza/Bay Market parking lot, located just behind Bin 66 on the Forgotten Mile between Rehoboth and Dewey Beaches.

Patrons at this year’s 46th Annual Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft Show will have an opportunity to win an original painting by Martha Spak, a self-taught artist and landscape photographer who is best known for her ethereal landscape paintings. Her inspiration comes from everywhere—a vivid sunset, tranquil water or a beautiful keepsake from traveling or a family heirloom. Ms. Spak paints in oils and acrylics building the surface with layers of thin translucent glazes to create atmosphere. She recently had a museum exhibition focusing on water and landscape scenes in the Mid-Atlantic area. In 2017, Martha opened the Martha Spak Gallery in Washington, DC where she exhibits her work and other local artists. Ms. Spak is also an art speaker and has taught landscape painting at the Yellow Barn Studio at Glen Echo Park, MD.  Prior to becoming an artist, she taught an intellectual property course annually at Stanford University for four years. She has a degree in Journalism from the University of South Carolina and received an Executive Certificate in Intellectual Property Negotiation from Harvard.

Martha’s painting, Evening Walk Seascape, will be on display in the Corkran Gallery through the Outdoor Show. Raffle tickets are $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20. Tickets may be purchased in advance at RAL’s Henlopen Acres location and the winning ticket will be pulled at 4:00 pm on August 11. To be eligible, ticket holders must be 18 years or older and include phone number, address, email and name on each ticket. The winner does not need to be present at the time of the drawing.
