The Corsica River Conservancy will host its annual community festival, Corsica River Day, with family fun, food vendors, live music and environmental education on the riverfront Sunday, September 15, 2019.
This free event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Corsica River Yacht Club, located at 589 Conquest Road, off Spaniard Neck Road in Centreville, providing a waterfront setting to celebrate the Corsica River.
Family activities include free kayaking and canoeing on the Corsica River, Phillips Wharf Fishmobile, Scales and Tales, fishing, pony rides, petting zoo, face painting, pumpkin art and educational activities. Families are welcome to bring their own kayaks and canoes. Washington College will give educational boat rides on the Corsica River.
The Commerce Street Creamery will offer barbecue, burgers, and ice cream for sale plus soft drinks and beer. Musical entertainment will be provided by bluegrass band Blue Octane.
There will be free native perennials given out by the Corsica River Conservancy while they last.
“This is our fourth year partnering with Corsica River Yacht Club to help get the entire community to celebrate the river and get involved in preserving and protecting this treasured resource,” said Chair of Corsica River Day, Debbie Pusey.
The goal of Corsica River Day is to foster understanding about what can be done to improve the health of the river while bringing the community together for an enjoyable fall festival, she said.
Sponsors include Corsica River Conservancy, Corsica River Yacht Club, and Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation. For more information about Corsica River Day, contact Queen Anne’s County Office of Tourism at 410-604-2100 or visit www.corsicariverconservancy.org
