ST MICHAELS, MD – The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and the Living Classrooms Foundation are inviting the public to climb aboard pungy schooner Lady Maryland during its Oct. 27–31 stay in St. Michaels, Md.
On Sunday, October 27, 2019 guests can step aboard Lady Maryland, with dockside tours offered from noon–5pm. Then, at 5pm on October 27, guests of all ages are invited to join in a two-hour sunset sail, when passengers will be invited to help the crew raise and lower the sails, navigate the boat, and enjoy an afternoon sail along scenic Miles River.
Built in 1985 by the Living Classrooms Foundation, Lady Maryland is a replica of a Chesapeake Bay pungy schooner. Pungies were considered fast sailing vessels in the 1800s, and were primarily used as workboats carrying perishables. Lady Maryland is visiting St. Michaels as a part of its education travels, and will be serving local students throughout the rest of the stay.
Dockside tours are free for CBMM members or with regular museum admission. Guests aboard the October 27 cruise are invited to bring their own snacks and drinks, with glass strictly prohibited. At $20 per person, boarding passes are limited, with advanced registration needed at cbmm.org/ladymaryland.
