Chestertown RiverArts will host a number of events during the upcoming Downrigging Weekend.
The RiverArts Gallery in the breezeway hosts a new show of Kent County Student Art featuring work in a range of mediums, styles, and subject matter by students from every school in the county, showing the breadth of talent and creativity of students from Rock Hall to Galena to Chestertown and everywhere in between.
Students, families, and the public are invited to our First Friday opening reception to see the variety of exciting work being done by Kent County art students. Family-friendly snacks and beverages will be provided.
At the Clay Studio, the public is invited to take part in an eco-friendly Bottomless Mugs celebration all weekend. Instead of using paper cups, buy a beautiful handmade mug filled with a delicious hot drink provided by our very own studio potters, then come back and fill your mug with free hot coffee, tea, cider, or chocolate, as much as you want all day long!
RiverArts’ Plein Air Painting and Life Drawing groups will celebrate a successful season of painting the Eastern Shore with a Pop-Up Gallery event at the ArtsAlive! Education Center at 200 High Street. The work of local painters, as well as clay and and fabric artists will be on show all weekend, with an opening reception on First Friday from 5pm to 8pm.
Also at the Pop-Up event, local artists have donated Mini-Paintings, which will be available for $20 each and a choice of framing for between $10-20. These will make great stocking stuffers and your purchases help fund RiverArts programs.
And finally, children and families can drop in for First Friday at KidSPOT, as well as on Saturday morning for free drop-in discovery art and creative play in a friendly space in the heart of downtown.
RiverArts galleries and main office are at 315 High Street, Suite 106, Chestertown, MD 21620 – (in the breezeway). Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday, 11 AM to 5:30 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 5:30PM, Sunday 11 AM – 3 PM, First Fridays until 8 PM.
