Chestertown, MD – “I am never going to another charity event unless it is as much fun as this one!” So said a guest at last year’s Annual RiverArts “Reclaimed Runway” Gala. Indeed, this fundraiser is special.
Guests will marvel at an uproariously fabulous fashion extravaganza while enjoying delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. This year the gala will take place Saturday, March 21, 2020, 5:00-8:00pm, in the Chesapeake Room at the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Department.
Begin your evening with a walk down the red carpet and have your photo taken. See your friends, neighbors, and students of all ages strut their stuff down the runway in amazingly creative designs using recycled or re-purposed materials. Materials used in years past have included such things as mylar, vines, hair, used sails and even a metal corner of a box spring. This year’s discerning judges will be Betterton Radiologist, Jazz Festival Guru, and dapper man-about-town Mel Rapelyea, Flow Salon Founder and passionate beauty professional Jaye Owings, and Chestertown Soaperie Owner and Chestertown Food Pantry Board member Mariam Satchell.
The Fashion Show will be emceed by the Mad Prophet of All Things Recyclable, Greg Farley, and the evening will feature a variety of opportunities for everyone to participate in the true purpose of the event by making financial contributions to RiverArts’ many programs for artists, art-lovers, and the art-curious of all ages and at all stages of their creative lives.
