Great Dames Film Series to Conclude at Library with “Maiden”
On Monday, March 9, 2020 at 6:00 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library will show the award-winning documentary “Maiden” on its large, professional screen. This film, rated PG, tells the triumphant true story of the first ever all-female crew to enter the Whitbread Round the World Race. Speaking of this remarkable team of women, The New York Times called the film “a sleek, exhilarating documentary look back at their race into history.” “Maiden” will be the concluding film in the Great Dames series sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Chesapeake Film Festival in Honor of the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage in America. All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons do not need to pre-register to attend this film.
Challenge Island (STEM Learning Program): Ancient Egyptian Pyramids:
On Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 4:30 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library invites children in grades 1-5 to join us as we journey back in time to Ancient Egypt! We will learn about hieroglyphics and explore how the pyramids were built. Using the engineering process we will work in tribes to create pyramids of our own. St. Michaels Library to Host Bay Hundred Chess
On Wednesdays March 11 & 25, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library invites patrons to come in to learn and play the strategic game of chess. Beginners are welcome. All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons do not need to pre-register to participate in this program.
St. Michaels Library to Offer Memoir Writing Program
On Thursdays March 12 & 26, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library invites patrons to come in to record and share their memories of life and family with a group of friendly, like-minded people. Participants may bring their lunch. All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons do not need to pre-register to participate in this program.
St. Michaels Library to Host Series Entitled “Not Your Grandma’s Garden!”
Beginning on Saturday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. with a program entitled “Marvelous Meadows,” the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library will host a series of gardening programs designed to maximize your yard’s potential. At this first event, patrons will learn how to put in an attractive meadow that will please butterflies, hummingbirds, and the neighbors! Future programs will focus on attracting birds with more trees and tricks to help you avoid hurting your back while improving your garden. All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons do not need to pre-register to participate in this program.
