There aren’t many mills from colonial times around and even fewer that are still operational. One of those is in the old Wye Grist Mill in the town that takes its name from the mill, Wye Mills. The mill dates from 1682 and was one of those of the Eastern Shore which historian have termed as “Breadbasket of the Revolution.”
Many who travel US-50 don’t realize that by taking a short side trip, turning right at the light at Chesapeake College, the history that can be seen.
