REHOBOTH BEACH, DE – With the Phase I opening of Delaware, the Rehoboth Art League will offer “Plein Air Oil Painting: Color and Composition with Jacalyn Beam” on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 2 and 3, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the outdoor campus of the Art League. En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air,” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works. Since the class will be held outdoors and class size maintained at less than ten, social distancing will be easily accomplished. All other CDC guidelines will also be strictly adhered to especially wearing face masks at all times.
Jacalyn Beam was born in Chester County, PA. Her early training in art was rooted in the history and beauty of the Brandywine Valley. She holds a B.S., M.Ed. and Ed.D. and has always held a passion for painting. Jacalyn is a member of the American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, Washington Society of Landscape Artists, American Women artists, and the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association (MAPAPA). She is included in books, magazines and other documents including, “100 Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters” published by Schiffer and has earned many awards. Governor John Carney recently appointed Dr. Beam to serve on the state’s art council for a term of three years beginning January 2020.
