Starting on August 7, 2020 the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “The Burnt Orange Heresy,” a thrilling drama about a man whose greed and ambition will cause him to do anything to further his career.
Charming and ambitious art critic, James Figueras (played by Claes Bang), has fallen from grace. He spends his days in Milan lecturing witless tourists about art history. His only glimmer of hope is a new-found love interest, the enigmatic American, Berenice Hollis (played by Elizabeth Debicki). An opportunity strikes when he is contacted by wealthy art dealer Joseph Cassidy (Mick Jagger) who summons James to his villa on Lake Como and asks him to steal a painting from the legendary reclusive artist, Jerome Debney (played by Donald Sutherland). Soon, James’ finds himself caught in a web of his own making. [2020, Italy, 98 min, Rated: R].
Nell Minow of “Movie Mom” says, “The glamorous world of art museums and collectors, the provocative questions it raises, and sharp, witty performances from Sutherland and Jagger make it enticingly watchable.” Jeffrey M. Anderson of the “San Francisco Examiner” writes, “An uncommonly sophisticated crime film, wherein the things that are stolen may not necessarily be objects d’art.”
Screening times are 4 pm on Fri (Aug 7), 7 pm on Sat (Aug 8), 4 pm on Sun (Aug 9), and 6 pm on Wed (Aug 12). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
