Main Street Alfresco Returns to Downtown Newark

New Castle

Newark, DE – With the arrival of warmer spring temperatures, the City of Newark and The Newark Partnership (TNP) announce the popular outdoor dining event “Main Street Alfresco” will return on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Chapel Street to South College Avenue for family friendly, COVID-compliant expanded outdoor seating at multiple establishments.

“We’re excited to bring back Main Street Alfresco to support our businesses and provide a safe experience for our residents and visitors,” said Newark Mayor Jerry Clifton. “I’ve been so proud of the way our city came together over the past year and these events are an extension of that sense of community and fellowship.”

“The Newark Partnership is thrilled to sponsor Main Street Alfresco nights again this year,” said TNP Executive Director, Leann Moore. “Alfresco is a safe and unique way to experience all the wonderful dining in Newark. We hope both seasoned and new friends will join us for this kick off to warmer weather!”

Newark officials kindly ask that all cars are removed from Main Street by 3:00 p.m. Convenient parking is available in Newark municipal lots 1, 4, 6 and 7 as well as privately managed lots. View the parking locator here.

Additional Main Street Alfresco events will be held the second and fourth Wednesday of the month (April 14, April 28, May 12 and May 26, 2021). There are no rain dates.
