As they have for the past 11 years, guests will arrive on May 6th at the Talisman Therapeutic Riding farm in Grasonville to enjoy the 149th Kentucky Derby. Gentlemen and ladies, in their iconic hats, will view a live broadcast of the Derby as they sip mint juleps and enjoy a Southern style dinner, prepared by Chef David Perry of Ruthsberg Kitchens.
The doors open well before the televised race to give guests the opportunity to meet the herd, bid on silent auction items, and taste a variety of premium bourbons. Bourbon aficionado Steve Showalter will guide the tasting and point out the differences among the bourbons.
The evening will conclude with a live auction, featuring a 10-day all-inclusive trip to Croatia. Board member Aida Cohadzic will host up to 6 people in her VRBO apartments in the village of Trpanj in Croatia, the new Tuscany according to Vogue magazine. Three couples or 6 people will have tours of local vineyards, enjoy meals especially prepared by local restauranteurs, and take a one-day trip to Dubrovnik. To balance the schedule, Ms. Cohadzic has planned downtime at the nearby beach.
The event will benefit Talisman Therapeutic Riding, Inc. a 501( c) 3 organization that pairs therapists and instructors with horses to support children and adults with multiple physical and emotional challenges and veterans and first responders suffering for the effects of their jobs.
