Ocean City, MD:
The National Weather Service, Wakefield, has placed the Ocean City forecast area under a Tropical Storm Warning. Ocean City Emergency Services is continuing to monitor Potential Tropical Cyclone Sixteen that is forecasted to become Tropical Storm Ophelia. Currently, effects of the storm are expected to be in the Ocean City area beginning late Friday, September 22 through Saturday, September 23, 2023.
Winds in excess of 40 mph are expected, with gusts reaching as high as 55 mph. Heavy rainfall is expected with rainfall totals of 3-6”. Flooding is possible, especially in the downtown area. Town of Ocean City personnel have begun completing pre-storm action items, including closing the seawall and removing items from the beach. Residents are encouraged to begin securing outdoor furniture, grills and water vessels, and prepare for power outages.

The Town of Ocean City’s Emergency Services personnel will be working closely with local and state representatives to provide citizens with timely, accurate and essential information before, during and after the storm. Citizens are encouraged to Know Your Zone and Division and be prepared for any impact the storm may have on Ocean City.
