The Maryland Department of Commerce’s Office of Tourism has published its 2024 edition of Destination Maryland Magazine, helping travelers discover the state’s many attractions, scenic byways, outdoor recreational opportunities, and more.
“Maryland leads the way as one of America’s most diverse and welcoming destinations, creating authentic experiences for visitors to enjoy while simultaneously contributing billions of dollars to our state’s economy,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Kevin Anderson. “With spring break coming soon, I encourage everyone to make lasting memories by making Maryland their vacation destination.”
Destination Maryland Magazine is a 120-page full-color magazine with national scenic byway themed suggestions, as well as regional listings of museums, attractions, history and heritage sites, arts and culture, parks, and outdoor recreation. Features in this year’s issue include a six-step tutorial on crab picking (pg. 56), a three-page feature on our Chesapeake Bay Storytellers (pgs. 41-43), and a spread highlighting our hike, bike and paddle trails that comprise Maryland’s Trail System Second-to-None (pgs. 67-70). “Consumer research drives the content of the Destination Maryland Magazine which includes The Most Powerful Underground Railroad Storytelling Destination in the World; The Great Chesapeake Bay Loop and Chesapeake Bay Storytellers program; our Trail System Second-to-None; the Open Roads Scenic Byways program; and Fish and Hunt Maryland,” said Liz Fitsimmons, managing director of the Maryland Office of Tourism. “We encourage travelers to read the guide and browse our Visit Maryland website to book their multi-night trips to Maryland.”
Those planning their vacation in Maryland can also visit Maryland Welcome Centers, which are conveniently located along major highways throughout each region of the state. The eight centers offer a wide array of additional printed brochures and guides produced by the state, county and city tourism offices, and local tourism business. Knowledgeable travel counselors are available at each location to provide personalized assistance.
Maryland’s social media platforms are also a timely way for visitors to learn about unique destinations, anniversaries, special events, and local culinary specialties and craft spirits, while connecting users with other Maryland travel fans.
