Cambridge Main Street Announces New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of Cambridge Main Street has announced a new executive director for the non-profit organization, located in downtown Cambridge, MD.

Dorchester County native, Christina Wingate-Spence has been named executive director for Cambridge Main Street, whose mission is to foster economic vitality, and preserve and promote historic downtown Cambridge, while enhancing a dynamic and inclusive city center.

Wingate-Spence is a graduate of Washington College, in Chestertown, MD, where she studied Political Science and completed an internship with the Maryland General Assembly. Her career began as a programs manager for Upper Shore Aging, Inc., the Area Agency on Aging for Caroline, Kent and Talbot Counties. From there, she has spent the last 20 years in health care sales, marketing and communications, having worked in various capacities for area skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, home care organizations and most recently, acute inpatient rehabilitation. Wingate-Spence also spent time working in marketing and communications for University of Maryland Shore Regional Health. During her career, she has been the recipient of two national awards for her achievement in sales and community-based marketing.

In addition to her professional experiences, Wingate-Spence has been a member of various community volunteer organizations, committees and boards.

“As someone who has spent the majority of my life in Dorchester County, I am thrilled to have been offered the opportunity to utilize my marketing, communications and public relations skills to help promote and grow Cambridge’s Main Street District,” says Wingate-Spence. “I am deeply rooted in this county – this community – and because of that, I have a vested interest in the success and continued development of the local businesses that my family and I enjoy, as will future generations.”

Abby Messick, president of the Board of Directors for Cambridge Main Street adds, “It is our vision that Cambridge will have a vibrant downtown that engages with and connects our local community, visitors to our area, and local businesses. The Board and I are excited to welcome Christina to this role, as we feel her skills and experiences, and most importantly, her passion for our community will be a great asset to Cambridge Main Street.”
