At the August meeting, the Caroline County Board of Education approved the recommendation of Anna E. Howie as Assistant Principal at Federalsburg Elementary School (FES).
Following the interview process, Ms. Howie began serving as the interim assistant principal in July. FES Principal Ms. Brohawn was unable to be at the meeting but earlier shared with Dr. Simmons that she and Ms. Howie’s strengths compliment one other, and they “already fit together like a hand in a glove.”
“Ms. Howie is exactly the partner that is needed to propel FES forward,” Dr. Simmons shared. “With this leadership team now in place, I’m excited about what the future holds for the entire FES community.”
Ms. Howie has been with Dorchester County Public Schools (DCPS) since 2020, serving as the principal at Dorchester Career and Technology Center. For two years, she served in a dual role as principal and Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum supervisor. Ms. Howie began her career in 2002 at DCPS as a middle school mathematics, physical science and Algebra I teacher, and subsequently became an Instructional Mathematics Coach, an Assistant Human Resources Administrator, Local Accountability Coordinator, and Supervisor of Mathematics and Accountability. She also served as the Curriculum Supervisor of CTE and Middle School Mathematics and Local Accountability Coordinator for Talbot County Public Schools.
Ms. Howie holds a Bachelors of Industrial Engineering, a Masters in Administration and Supervision, and is a doctoral candidate at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
