Reiki sound bath offers reflective, relaxing restoration

A healing communities from addiction sound bath event is set for Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 7 p.m. in the garden at Hummingbird Inn in Easton.
Nikki Swartz, owner of Living in the Solution Mind Body Wellness, is offering the reiki sound bath as a donation-based fundraiser for Grace Street, a recovery community organization in Easton. Reiki sound baths are a holistic healing experience that use vibration from a variety of instruments, including crystal singing bowl, gongs, chimes and tuning forks. These holistic practices are increasingly used for people in recovery from substance use disorder, but are beneficial to anyone.
This event offers an opportunity for anyone in the community to come together and embrace healing for all affected by addiction.
The combination of reiki, which is energy healing, and sound bath, which is intuitive sound healing, offers a reflective, relaxing and restorative experience that stimulates healing on all levels, including spiritual. Reiki and sound baths are increasingly explored as a complementary approach to substance use disorder recovery.
“We are so grateful to Nikki and Eric Levinson of Hummingbird Inn for making it possible to bring this event to our communities,” said Kelley Callaghan, founder of Grace Street. “In the year since we’ve opened, we’ve encountered so many who are hurting from the disease of addiction, and we hope this event helps people embrace connection and healing.”
Please bring a yoga mat and light blanket and wear comfortable, warm clothing. Chairs also are available for those who prefer to sit. This event is in the gardens of Hummingbird Inn, located at 14 N. Aurora St., and will move to the porch in the case of inclement weather. The sound bath should last about an hour.
The event is free; donations are welcomed and support Grace Street.
Grace Street opened in Easton in August of 2023 as the sole recovery community organization (RCO) on the Mid-Shore. An RCO is a non-profit organization that is led by people with direct lived experience with substance use challenges and recovery.
Grace Street provides peer-based and other recovery support services; operates the region’s only harm reduction vending machine that includes Narcan, Fentanyl and Xylazine test strips; offers free harm reduction materials and services, including wound care; conducts weekly street outreach; provides resource connection and supports; provides life skills and workforce development, including peer recovery support training for certification; hosts support groups and fosters recovery-focused community education.
