(Maryland Environmental Trust)
The Maryland Environmental Trust is offering a one-day volunteer training session for individuals interested in helping to monitor conservation easement properties. The training session will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 3 2018 at Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center, 600 Discovery Lane, Grasonville.
The Maryland Environmental Trust, a unit of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, works with citizen land trusts and landowners to protect Maryland’s most treasured landscapes and natural resources as a legacy for future generations. These preserved lands are monitored annually to ensure the conservation easement values are permanently maintained.
To accomplish this, the trust recruits passionate volunteers who have an interest in land conservation and desire to visit the state’s most significant natural areas, including farms, forests, historic viewsheds as well as scenic landscapes and waterfronts. Volunteers should be at least 20 years of age, physically able to walk over potentially rugged terrain and have their own transportation and smartphone or camera.
Volunteers must participate in the March 3 training and agree to complete five or more monitoring visits annually.
