Compass Regional Hospice offers Mother’s Day workshop to cope with grief

Caroline Health Kent, MD Queen Anne's Talbot

Mother’s Day may be a difficult time for those who have lost their mother, even if they lost their mother many years ago. Compass Regional Hospice is offering a workshop for anyone 18 and older who have lost their mothers on Saturday, May 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Hope & Healing Center located at 255 Comet Drive in Centreville.

The workshop will be co-facilitated by Compass Regional Hospice grief counselors Ann OConnor, LCSW-C and Linda Turner, MS. Participants will enjoy a light brunch, special activity and time of fellowship. The workshop fee is $10.

“The workshop is to prepare individuals who are grieving such a loss for the upcoming holiday in a way that is personal and reflective,” said Ann OConnor, LCSW-C, a grief counselor for Compass Regional Hospice. “It is a way to connect with others experiencing similar emotions and explore and express grief through a creative art activity. It offers a safe and supportive environment to remember and celebrate their mothers.”
