Review: Phoebe Alexander’s Siren Call

Entertainment Review

Today is the day! Local author Phoebe Alexander 3rd book in her Romance Series, Eastern Shore Swingers, Siren Call, is now available on Amazon.

Ocean City, MD, a resort town on the Atlantic Ocean, is the setting for Phoebe Alexander’s series. Jessie Martinez is one of the town’s full-time police officers. She has always wanted to be a cop. She does have two secrets. One is that she is a lesbian, the other is she’s a member of the Factory, a swinger’s club.

One night at the club she is approached by the owners who ask her if she could covertly keep an eye on Sirena Horne, a new member of the club that no one seems to know much about. Even the couple who introduced her to the club had only met her the week before her first visit.

During her investigation she comes in close contact with Sirena, so close that she falls in love. But Sirena has many secrets, the biggest one is that no one seems to know anything about her. While at times you see Sirena vulnerably one also sees that her life, which may be longer than at first appearances, has not always been the best. Jessie’s search takes her into areas of humananity she never imagined existed.

It’s a romance novel that ends as expected with the two women falling in love. It is also a mystery with an ending with a twist that even though the clues are there, does come somewhat of a surprise.

I read the book in one sitting and it has that, what’s next feel, to keep one wanting to continue to read it to discover all of Sirena’s secrets.

Each of the books in the series are standalone stories, with a common setting being the beach town of Ocean City and the nearby secret club where swingers from all over the mid-Atlantic converge every weekend to frolic and play.

This is my favorite of the three in the series and can be read first, but I would suggest if you want to read the others in the series, you start with the first, Fisher of Men, which introduces the club’s owners and is also an introduction in the the swinging lifestyle.

The series includes:
Book 1: Fisher of Men (Cap and Leah’s Story)
Book 2: The Catch (Calvin and Paisley’s Story)
Book 3: Siren Call (Jessie and Sirena’s Story)
Book 4: Coming Fall 2018
