Newark Spring Concert Series Continues 50th Anniversary Celebration

Shake, rattle and roll through five decades of music as the City of Newark Parks and Recreation Department once again hosts the Spring Concert Series, this year in concert with the department’s year-long 50th anniversary celebration. Each week local musicians will feature music from one or more decades from the last fifty years. Concerts will be held Thursday nights from 7 – 8 p.m. starting May 3, through June 21, 2018. Grab a bite to eat, do some shopping on Main Street then stop by for a musical stroll through the decades on the Academy Building lawn.

Here is the full schedule for the spring concert series:

– May 3: Club Phred (1950’s – 80’s)
– May 10: Ace of Hearts (1950’s – today)
– May 17: Late for Dinner (1950′ & 1960’s)
– May 24: The Jimmies (1980’s)
– May 31: The Juveniles (1960’s & 1970’s)
– June 7: Zodiac Jack (1990’s – today)
– June 14: Meeta Parker (1970’s & 1980’s)
– June 21: The Honeycombs (1950’s & 1960’s)

Parking fees are in effect downtown during the concerts. On rainy days, the concert will be held at the Aetna Fire House on Academy Street.
