Ingrid Hansen, Owner of Figg’s Ordinary, LLC Is Appointed to Kent County Tourism Development Advisory Board

Business Kent, MD

Figg’s Ordinary, LLC is pleased to announce that its President and CEO, Ingrid Hansen, has been appointed to the Kent County Tourism Development Advisory Board, effective immediately. The Tourism Development Advisory Board is intended to promote tourism in Kent County, highlight the County’s historical and cultural aspects, and enlist the cooperation of federal and state agencies in promoting tourism in the County, especially in Chestertown, Maryland. Regarding her new position, Hansen remarked, “I am thrilled to serve in this capacity. I love Chestertown and Kent County, and will work hard to promote our community and its many treasures. With our new marina, flourishing downtown area, Washington College, Garfield Theatre, and so many other attractions in Kent County, promoting our wonderful community and bringing new comers to the area is a labor of love.” Hansen’s term ends in 2021. More information on the Tourism Board is available at www.kentcounty.com/tourism.

Hansen opened Figg’s Ordinary, a gluten- and refined sugar-free café and bakery located at 207 S. Cross Street in Chestertown (adjacent to Gabriel’s, Robert Ortiz Studios, and Jacqueline Von Voss, LAC) in early 2017, after selling gluten- and refined sugar-free items at the Chestertown Farmers’ Market beginning in 2015. Figg’s Ordinary uses carefully selected ingredients in its delicious cuisine, most of which are grown locally or sourced by local farmers and merchants. Figg’s Ordinary also hosts educational and community events at the store.

Figg’s commitment to local and sustainable practices extends beyond sourcing from nearby farms. With the goal of operating as a zero waste business, Figg’s commissioned mugs, plates, and bowls by Chestertown artist Marilee Schumann, encouraging take-out patrons to use their own to-go cups and containers while offering 100% biodegradable packaging, monitoring food waste, and directing all food scraps to Washington College Campus Garden’s compost program.
