Kent County Tourism, Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Southern Delaware Tourism hosted a joint luncheon for Delaware State Legislators in coordination with U.S. Travel Association’s National Travel and Tourism Week (May 6-12).
National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual tradition held across the U.S. travel community. The event was part of the 35th annual National Travel and Tourism Week, which unites communities across the country to celebrate what travel means to American jobs, economic growth and personal well-being.
The luncheon was held in the Tatnall Building next to Legislative Hall in Dover. Members of the Senate and the House of Representatives of Delaware Assembly attended the luncheon. Executive Directors from Kent County Tourism, Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau, Southern Delaware Tourism, and the State Tourism Office welcomed the legislators and thank them for their support. The luncheon overall was an opportunity where all three county Convention & Visitor Bureaus (CVB) worked together to help promote the value of tourism to not only each county, but to the state of Delaware as a whole. Each representative received information with 2016 Tourism Summary statistics from the State of Delaware Tourism Office along with facts and figures for each county’s CVB. In addition, there were several board members, staff and tourism partners on-hand to talk to State Representatives.
Following the luncheon, a delegation from the tourism bureaus paid a visit to the Governor’s Office where they met with Governor Carney.
